Meet Ryan Ouderkirk

Ryan was born in Eastern Ontario to Judy Ouderkirk, and Jeff Ouderkirk, a dairy farmer. He was raised on the farm and worked as a farm hand from a very young age. This experience taught him the value of hard work and the struggles associated with running a business.

Ryan went to high school in Avennmore, ON, where his passion for politics, history, and law grew. On weekends, Ryan was a Sunday School Teacher at Morewood United Church. After completing his high school education, Ryan studied Public Administration and Political Science at the University of Ottawa.

Upon completion of his Social Science Degree (Joint Honours in Political Science and Public Administration), Ryan went on to intern at the Conservative Party as the election readiness intern. During that time, he worked on the Fort McMurray-Athabasca By-election that saw David Yurdiga elected to Parliament.

After the internship, Ryan was hired by Member of Parliament David Yurdiga, splitting his time between Northern Alberta and Ottawa. After the 2015 election that saw MP Yurdiga re-elected, this time as the Member of Parliament for Fort McMurray - Cold Lake, Ryan was promoted to Executive Assistant and then later Chief of Staff.

Ryan has worked on a variety of committees for MP Yurdiga including Indigenous and Northern Affairs Committee and National Defence Committee. As part of his work from MP Yurdiga he also worked with resource extraction legislation.

In his spare time, Ryan volunteers for a variety of non-profits and has worked on multiple conservative campaigns as an organizer, writer, and policy expert.

Throughout his professional career, Ryan has been a vocal advocate for resource development, low taxes, and smaller government. Currently he splits his time between his residence in Hinton and Ottawa.
